Heretic of the Void

Heretic is a multidisciplinary BIPOC artist from Chicago, IL, best known for upcycled jewelry and fashion. However, my artistic visions expand beyond wearable art. My work is also deeply influenced by the resilience, ingenuity, and beauty of the Black and Indigenous communities that raised me. I am drawn to duality and blur the lines between what is considered in opposition: masculine and feminine, delicate and defiant, pretty and punk. In that tension, I find harmony. In that tension, I can exist freely…

Each piece I create is composed of found objects, vintage treasures, and reclaimed materials; fragments of past lives reimagined into something new. I aim to give new life to what’s discarded as an act of reclamation, a deep gesture of respect toward the earth, and an honest acknowledgment of a world where many of us will inherit struggle before we inherit abundance. Each creation reflects my perception of the world and is as much adornment as it is a subtle form of resistance.
